rPET stands for recycled polyethylene terephthalate — PET plastic that has been collected, cleaned, and reprocessed from post-consumer waste. Petainer has been incorporating recycled PET content into its products since 2004 and can supply bottles with rPET inclusion from standard levels up to 100% upon request. Using rPET reduces reliance on virgin materials, lowers the carbon footprint of each bottle produced, and supports compliance with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) legislation and circular economy targets. rPET performs identically to virgin PET in terms of clarity, barrier properties, and food safety, so there is no compromise on quality.
